Lawful Evil Human Monk 6/Drunken Master 9
Rellen’s generally laid back and apathetic attitude did not serve him particularly well when his father brought him into the Blademarks. While he was initially unenthusiastic and lethargic, the Blademarks taught him discipline. His training included training with most weapons, armors, as well as the standard tactics of the five kingdoms. Most of his comrades chose a fight style and focused on it, doing specific weapons and armor training, but Rellen never found one he liked enough. Before the end of his training, while at a tavern with some of his fellow mercenaries, Rellen saw a Drunken Master in action, bloodying several of his squad mates. He was enamored with the style immediately. None of his Combat Masters knew the style, and a few thought that it was a set of techniques learned by monks. He left the Blademarks (to his Father’s chagrin), saying he would return later after learning the art, and went to join a monastery in the Brelish country. At the monastery he built upon some his previous training with the Blademarks, but focused solely on unarmored hand-to-hand combat as well as the spiritual aspect of centering oneself. Every time he asked about the drunken style he saw in the tavern, he was given disapproving looks from his masters and peers at the monastery. Eventually giving up hope that he would learn the style from the monastery, he left.
Somewhere along the way he met, and began to work with, Tarmikos.
Arriving in Sharn with Tarmikos and another human named Luna, he had several adventures and went through several companions (Luna, an excorsist, a psion, and a shifter) before ultimately fleeing the city. Tarmikos’ influence and the nature of their deeds began to wear on him. His discipline began to wane, his concern for collateral damage lessened. After defending the most depraved man he’d ever met by slaughtering a dozen paladins, he knew he’d sealed his fate.
But he was alright with that.
His mother and father work for House Denieth, his father is a commander of a Blademarks unit. He had an older brother whom he found dead in the cogs of Sharn—his brain devoured by an illithid. He avenged his brother, but to date has never sent word of his sibling’s fate to his parents.
During the War
Rellen never served on active duty during the war, due to his preoccupation with training, or his search for a master. Had he, he would have served House Deneith first, or Breland.
